Fiddle Festival 50th Anniversary Planning
The 50th anniversary in 2026 is a huge opportunity to celebrate the legacy created by the first generation of Chaisson’s. It also holds exciting potential to showcase the festival grounds as a location for other events. There are numerous ideas on how to organize this special event including:
- Exploring special events including Guinness World Record largest square dance attempt (current record: 1,627 people)
- Invite elite, acclaimed musicians like Natalie McMaster or bands from Showcase Scotland to the celebration and seek support from local and regional businesses to sponsor such big acts.
- Announce program and tickets earlier than usual May timeline.
- Video a documentary that tells the story of the 50-year memoire. Have it aired on CBC Gem docs, and other media platforms. (Brent Chaisson is undertaking this).
- Prepare a kaleidoscope of the founders, the years’ visuals and story lines to be played on the grounds and at other viewings.
